Merkister Hotel

Toumal Art Studio

Toumal Art Studio is a combined art studio and gallery with all work being Orkney themed. We sell original Orkney landscape and seascape art, prints, cards mugs, cushions and painted brooches. All work by Ingrid Grieve. Parking for minibus and small coaches, wheelchair access, small group friendly. Visitors are welcome to look around the gallery and shop with spectacular views over Scapa Flow and also see the artist at work in the studio area..

Castaway Crafts

An Orkney born and bred business selling handmade in Orkney products from over 140 local artisans, including beautiful Harris Tweed products handmade on the premises. You can see Fiona at work in her adjoining workshop while you browse the most comprehensive range of locally handmade products you will find. Pick your own fabric and have your own product made to order to add that special touch. Watch a work in progress on your visit or prebook for a particular experience. Groups 7-12 welcome, parking for cars, minibus, small & large coaches.

Pentland Ferries

Orkney’s own ferry company, Pentland Ferries, operates from Gills Bay in Caithness to St Margaret’s Hope in Orkney. The service takes just over one hour on one of its vehicle and passenger ferries:

MV Pentalina - accommodation includes seating areas and a café.

MV Alfred - accommodation includes seating areas, a café and an indoor dog-friendly lounge.

Environmental awareness - both vessels are greenest in their class, both in terms of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Skaill House Falconry

Viking Falconry for All
Get up close and personal with our birds.. We engage all walks of life. We encourage people with disability and have adapted our demonstrations to accommodate. The Viking Falconry themed day would be a chance to allow participants to gain an understanding of how the Norsemen hunted with Birds of Prey on the Orkney Islands.
A unique experience not open to the general public. We demonstrate Viking Falconry techniques, re-enactment, fact, myth and legend.

Orcadian Wildlife

Wildlife, walking, and Orkney’s superb 5,000-yearold Neolithic sites always feature, and we specialise in a blend of wildlife and culture. Groups are small (5 guests only) so they see more. Our tours are all inclusive, all they need to do is get here, and we do all the rest. Accommodation booked to suit the type of group. Lastly – but most important – we really look after our guests.

Kraken Diving

Orkney Scuba Diving school offers group friendly snorkel and dive adventures around the amazing WWI and WWII wrecks of Scapa Flow. These sheltered sites not only provide wrecks but a variety of marine life at nice shallow depths meaning there's something for everyone. Group sizes 1-6 (up to 6 snorkellers or 3 divers in a group), operate Apr – Sept. Discounts available.

Alison Moore Designs – Jewellery Making Experiences

Alison’s distinctive jewellery reflects her curiosity and passion for everything around her, with the natural world a particular inspiration. Her jewellery workshop and shop is located here in the heart of beautiful Stromness where you can watch their jewellers at work. Your clients can enjoy one of her jewellery making experiences which can be made bespoke for groups of up to 6 where they can come away with a piece of jewellery that they have made – a lasting memory of their Orkney holiday. Italian Chapel

The Italian Chapel is a highly ornate Catholic chapel on Lamb Holm in the Orkney Islands. It was built during World War II by Italian prisoners of war, who were housed on the previously uninhabited island while they constructed the Churchill Barriers to the east of Scapa Flow. Small Groups and FIT welcome, parking, open all year.

Ayre Hotel

Lynnfield Hotel & Restaurant

The Lynnfield Hotel is situated on the outskirts of Kirkwall, next to Highland Park Distillery. The hotel has 20 bedrooms. 10 original antique furnished bedrooms and 10 new modern bedrooms with an ‘Orkney twist’ all having modern ensuites. A dog friendly hotel, complete with Archie, our own spring-a-doodle.
The restaurant looks over Kirkwall to the isles, and serves only local seafood and meats – including North Ronaldsay mutton. Our lounge is the perfect place for relaxing before and after dinner.

Deerness Distillery

Located in East Mainland Orkney, 20 minutes from Kirkwall and the airport. Currently undergoing an expansion to open in Spring 2024 comprising; larger retail area, café for 40 plus, whisky still room, cask storage and ‘The Copinsay Room’ - a unique space to hold tasting experiences, events and private functions. Within expansion plans, an ambitious goal of taking all distillery buildings ‘off-grid’ utilising a biogas system. There will be a variety of tour & tasting experiences your guests can enjoy.

Rockworks Chalets

Located in St. Marys village, Holm, these newly refurbished seafront properties boast wonderful views over Scapa Flow and to the Italian Chapel. There are 5 chalets available with a max group size of 16 pax. Minimum stay – 3 night. Please note no food served on the complex, however there are eateries a short drive away and a local shop in the village. Directly located on main bus route. Cottiscarth Cottages

The complex consists of three cottages built in 2019 to an extremely high standard, offering 1 three-bedroom cottage and two 2 bedroom cottages.
This family run establishment takes pride in making your clients feel welcome with a generous welcome hamper on arrival and stunning views across the Orkney landscape.
Situated alongside a Site of special Scientific Interest and a RSPB bird reserve, your clients can watch Hen Harries hunting over Cottiscarth Dale.
The cottages are also part of an organic farm and your clients are welcome to come along and see the cattle and sheep grazing.

Sheila Fleet Jewellery

Sheila Fleet OBE has developed a reputation around the World for her distinctive designs. At the heart of these is her love for Orkney. Visitors can enjoy a FREE tour of our workshop and experience watching the jewellery being made as well as learning about the full making process of how Sheila brings her jewellery and designs to life. Groups of more than 4 people are highly advisable to book in advance. Some groups may be split into smaller numbers. Please allow a minimum of 45 minutes for the whole experience to visit the Kirk and workshop tour. Parking for cars, minibus, small coaches.

The Albert Hotel

Located in the center of Orkney's ancient capital Kirkwall. Maximum group size 30 pax, min stay - 2 nights. Your guests will have the option of a full cooked Scottish breakfast and 2 or 3 course dinner options available. Coach may park at side of hotel for disembarkation, no overnight coach parking at hotel. All rooms are accessed by lift or stairs, no ground floor rooms.

Skaill House

Skaill House is the fine 17th century mansion overlooking the spectacular Bay of Skaill on the Orkney Islands. Home of William Graham Watt, 7th Laird of Breckness, who unearthed the World famous Neolithic village of Skara Brae in 1850. Today, after careful restoration work, the house is open to the public and entry is included in a joint ticket with Skara Brae, which is just a 200m walk away. Skaill House has been accredited by VisitScotland as a four star visitor attraction. Visitors can experience a family home as it was in the 1950s, and discover the items collected by the family since the 17th Century.

Michael Sinclair RPT Woodturner

Michael, a local Orcadian is a registered professional turner producing one off pieces of turned wood. Small family run business with tarmac parking and easy access with a garden that visitors are welcome to explore. When visiting, customers can view our gallery and purchase finished pieces influenced by Neolithic pottery and Orkney’s historic heritage. Open April to October, 7 days per week. Closed on Sundays out-with these months. Evening bookings available by request. It would be helpful for larger groups of 10 - 12 people to prebook to help us make the visit as enjoyable as possible.

Aurora Jewellery

Founded in 1997 by master craftsman Steven Cooper, Aurora has grown to become one of the leading jewellery businesses in Orkney, with a reputation for producing truly unique silver and gold pieces influenced by the history, landscapes and culture of the islands. The only jewellers in the UK to have a licence from Sony Television to produce collections based on the Outlander series. Capacity for groups up 10 people, parking for minibus and cars. Workshop is open all year, Mon – Fri 9am – 5pm. Visitors are able to view work in progress from the shop.

Pierowall Hotel

We are a licenced hotel and restaurant in Westray, one of Orkney’s outer isles. We can seat up to 32 comfortably and have plenty parking opposite hotel. We open from 10am for coffees and offer lunches and evening meals using as much local produce as we can. We have lots of wildlife and local walks and beaches around the island.
