Scotland History Tours

Tours Bruce offers include Bespoke, The Real Macbeth and, 5000 Years of Scotland in a Day. A school teacher turned stand up comic Bruce Fummey has been performing shows about Scottish history at Edinburgh Fringe since 2006. In 2017 he decided not just to tell the stories, but to take people to where the stories happened. These are not classroom lessons, or stand up shows, but well informed and engaging tours telling the story of Scotland.

Robert Burns’ Ellisland Farm

Ellisland was built in 1788 by Robert Burns' for his family and is considered the 'Poets Choice' for it's idyllic walks and scenery of the Nith. Little has changed since Burns' lived here and it is considered one of the most authentic Burns sites.
When you visit you can see the landscape that inspired Burns as well as the room where he wrote the likes of his famous 'Auld Lang Syne'. We also have a museum section containing some of Burns' items and an informative video.
From 2022 onwards the trust is offering a specialist 'Dram and Bannock' tour led by a local story teller. This involves local food and drink and an expert guide, the minimum number in a group is 10. Visits begin with our 15 minute introductory movie, then a visit to the museum that houses many of his possessions and then visit the kitchen and spence of Robert's house.

Caledonian Railway

Located just off the A90, 30 minutes from Dundee and 40 minutes from Aberdeen, the Caledonian Railway is an entirely volunteer operated Heritage Steam Railway based in the small town of Brechin on the East Coast of Scotland.

We have a range of catering options provided by our café at Brechin station, including Afternoon Teas and Light Lunches, all made using locally sourced ingredients.
