Museum of Lead Mining, Wanlockhead

The Museum of Lead Mining is a unique, treasure house of information about the lead mining industry, active between the 1770s and 1950s. Walk into the extended Lochnell Mine. Learn about the harsh way of life, mining and processing the ore. Our guides will share their knowledge about the social and domestic history on a guided tour of Straitsteps Cottages, as well as the importance of education focussed in the Miners’ Library.
