Caledonian Railway

Located just off the A90, 30 minutes from Dundee and 40 minutes from Aberdeen, the Caledonian Railway is an entirely volunteer operated Heritage Steam Railway based in the small town of Brechin on the East Coast of Scotland.
We offer a wide variety of services perfectly suited for group visits, with group discounts and private charters available. We have a range of catering options provided by our café at Brechin station, including Afternoon Teas and Light Lunches, all made using locally sourced ingredients. Free on-site car and coach parking also available at Brechin station.

Robert Burns House Dumfries

In this simple sandstone house in a quiet Dumfries street, Robert Burns, Scotland's national poet, spent the last years of his brilliant life. He died here in 1796 at the age of thirty-seven. The house gives us a picture of how the poet and his family lived in the late eighteenth century and is now a place of pilgrimage for Burns admirers the world over.
Your clients can see his desk and chair in his study, the famous Kilmarnock editions of his work and many original manuscripts & belongings of the poet.

Bespoke tours can be arrange in advance (depending on availability) to the Robert Burns Mausoleum on request. These can include a guided talk.

Dumfries Museum and Camera Obscura

A treasure house of history in Dumfries and Galloway, Dumfries Museum tells the story of the land and people of the region, from fossil footprints to Victorian technology. The world's oldest working Camera Obscura is on the top floor of the windmill tower. From it, you can see a fascinating panoramic view of Dumfries and the surrounding countryside. The Museum holds frequent special exhibitions, and has a Museum shop. The Camera cannot operate in wet weather, please check for opening times.

Robert Burns Centre Dumfries

Situated in the town's eighteenth century watermill on the west bank of the River Nith, the Robert Burns Centre tells the story of Robert Burns' last years spent in the bustling streets and lively atmosphere of Dumfries in the late eighteenth century. The exhibition is illuminated by many original manuscripts and belongings of the poet. In the evening, the Centre is a film theatre, showing the best in contemporary and world cinema. Café and shop.
