Ellon Castle Gardens

Ellon Castle Gardens

Towering above the 7 acres of Ellon Castle Garden are the spectacular ruins of the early 15th century Ardgith Castle - once the home of the 3rd Earl of Aberdeen. The gardens themselves which date from 1715 contain many species of native and exotic trees but the crowning glory is the collection of 19 ancient yew trees which are at least 500 years old and some may be much older. The walled garden is a wonderfully tranquil place which is home to red squirrels and many species of birds.
