The Scottish Cafe & Restaurant is located in The National Gallery of Scotland and serves locally sourced, sustainably produced, contemporary Scottish food. The multi award-winning restaurant is well known for a commitment to using local, Artisan Scottish producers and sourcing a majority of its produce from the Contini Kitchen Garden. Serving breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon teas. The restaurant also offers a beautiful exclusive use events space for private functions and parties and we can host private views of art exhibitions.

I was born and brought up in Orkney and can offer a unique glimpse into life in Orkney in bygone days. I offer private bespoke tours to suit the interests of your guests. A full day tour has a lunch stop where local food and drink can be sampled. My minibus accommodates up to 8 people comfortably.

Toumal Art Studio

Toumal Art Studio is a combined art studio and gallery with all work being Orkney themed. We sell original Orkney landscape and seascape art, prints, cards mugs, cushions and painted brooches. All work by Ingrid Grieve. Parking for minibus and small coaches, wheelchair access, small group friendly. Visitors are welcome to look around the gallery and shop with spectacular views over Scapa Flow and also see the artist at work in the studio area..

Fernvalley Wildlife Centre

We are a forever home for abandoned, neglected and mistreated exotic animals which have been in the pet trade. We can accommodate small coaches (30 seats maximum), group friendly, with daily talks and feed sessions with our animals. Our onsite tearoom can seat up to 30 people, with accessible toilets and parking.

Pomona Prefect – Boat Trips

Pomona Prefect is a small, fast charter boat for hire for fishing and workboat charter for research and commercial and sports activities in Orkney. An affordable, exciting Boat hire for charter, bird watching and water taxi. Can be used for fishing, scuba diving, snorkelling, sea research diving, and small parties catered for. We take guests on fishing trips for wellness and meditative purposes. Groups up to 6 people. We can offer negotiated rates on group bookings.

The Workshop Loft & Gallery

The Workshop is a long established craft producers' cooperative in picturesque St. Margaret's Hope. It specialises in high quality locally produced knitwear and an impressive range of arts and crafts. Up the spiral staircase there is the Loft Gallery hosting exhibitions from local artists in a variety of media. There are monthly exhibitions from March to December in the small airy gallery. Group of 12+ welcome, parking for car/minibus/small and large coach.

Pier Arts Centre

The Pier Arts Centre in Stromness houses a Collection of British fine art including works by Barbara Hepworth & Ben Nicholson as well as local artists such as Sylvia Wishart & Stanley Cursiter & contemporary artists Sean Scully & Eva Rothschild. The Centre also curates a year round programme of exhibitions & events. The building and facilities are fully accessible. Booking is not required but advance notice of large group visits is preferred. Guided tours available for a fee.

Sheila Fleet Jewellery

Sheila Fleet OBE has developed a reputation around the World for her distinctive designs. At the heart of these is her love for Orkney. Visitors can enjoy a FREE tour of our workshop and experience watching the jewellery being made as well as learning about the full making process of how Sheila brings her jewellery and designs to life. Groups of more than 4 people are highly advisable to book in advance. Some groups may be split into smaller numbers. Please allow a minimum of 45 minutes for the whole experience to visit the Kirk and workshop tour. Parking for cars, minibus, small coaches.

Orkney Highlights Tours

Stromness Museum

The Stromness Museum exists to promote natural science, to preserve local history and to offer an enjoyable educational and informative experience to as large a range of people as possible. We offer an exclusive guided Curator’s Tour designed to be informative, engaging and an in-depth experience, one which will enable visitors to connect with people from our past through the stories behind the artefacts. Tours take place every Wednesday at 10am and every Thursday at 2pm and take approximately 1 hour. Tours are limited to 8 persons, so booking is recommended.

Hoy Heritage Centre

We are an island community heritage organisation offering an intimate heritage experience housed in an old church and set in a dramatic location. The Hoy Heritage Centre is locally developed and run and is an open all year venue where visitors let themselves in. Michael Sinclair RPT Woodturner

Michael, a local Orcadian is a registered professional turner producing one off pieces of turned wood. Small family run business with tarmac parking and easy access with a garden that visitors are welcome to explore. When visiting, customers can view our gallery and purchase finished pieces influenced by Neolithic pottery and Orkney’s historic heritage. Open April to October, 7 days per week. Closed on Sundays out-with these months. Evening bookings available by request. It would be helpful for larger groups of 10 - 12 people to prebook to help us make the visit as enjoyable as possible.

Harray Potter

Owned and run by Andrew Appleby, Harry Potter is a traditional ceramic business creating a mixture of tableware and art. The pottery is a must stop on the craft trail for all ages, guests to the island and locals. Located in Harray, the pottery is also close to the nearby Standing Stones of Stenness, and the Ring and Ness of Brodgar as well as Skara Brae. Book an experience to meet the maker and hear about their craft, watch a display of the techniques used and receive an 11% discount on shop sales. Groups welcome.

Aurora Jewellery

Founded in 1997 by master craftsman Steven Cooper, Aurora has grown to become one of the leading jewellery businesses in Orkney, with a reputation for producing truly unique silver and gold pieces influenced by the history, landscapes and culture of the islands. The only jewellers in the UK to have a licence from Sony Television to produce collections based on the Outlander series. Capacity for groups up 10 people, parking for minibus and cars. Workshop is open all year, Mon – Fri 9am – 5pm. Visitors are able to view work in progress from the shop.

An Orkney born and bred business selling handmade in Orkney products from over 140 local artisans, including beautiful Harris Tweed products handmade on the premises. You can see Fiona at work in her adjoining workshop while you browse the most comprehensive range of locally handmade products you will find. Pick your own fabric and have your own product made to order to add that special touch. Watch a work in progress on your visit or prebook for a particular experience. Pierowall Hotel

We are a licenced hotel and restaurant in Westray, one of Orkney’s outer isles. We can seat up to 32 comfortably and have plenty parking opposite hotel. We open from 10am for coffees and offer lunches and evening meals using as much local produce as we can. We have lots of wildlife and local walks and beaches around the island.
